Join Cooperstown Concerts’ 2024-2025 Season Finale Party, with Live Music, Dancing, and Island-inspired Food and Drinks
The Big Takeover, a high-energy, seven-piece roots reggae and Jamaican pop band will bring their infectious rhythms and feel-good vibes to Cooperstown on May 2, 7:30 PM, for a night of live music, dancing, and island-inspired flavors.
Known for their dynamic performances and signature global blend of music that includes reggae and world music, soul, Motown influences, and pop classicism, this vibrant group from the Hudson Valley has been lighting up stages nationwide. The concert, which concludes Cooperstown Concert’s 2024-2025 season, will be held in the beautiful Fenimore Farm & Country Village Louis C. Jones Center (5775 NY-80, Cooperstown). To buy tickets, go to Cooperstown Concerts.
Fronted by the charismatic Jamaican-born singer and songwriter Nee Nee Rushie, the horn-powered band plays original music that is rooted in the rhythms of Jamaican pop. At the same time, The Big Takeover crosses lines and blends traditions like global pop fusionists. Their complex arrangements and big hooks connect with the spirit of Motown and the uptown sophistication of the 21st century retro soul and R&B revival scene.
The band has garnered outstanding reviews from around the country. NYS Music says that The Big Takeover’s sound channels “big band arrangements of 60s and 70s soul music, with high-energy grooves of popular Jamaican music.” Wyoming Public Radio says that “Their performance stands alongside memorable recent shows by Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats and Lake Street Dive. Spectacular.” Adirondack Independence Music Festival notes that lead singer Rushie is a powerhouse performer “who makes the audience feel like accomplices more than spectators.” The Big Takeover has shared the stage with such acts as: The Wailers, Sister Sparrow & Dirty Birds, English Beat, Jefferson Starship, Pete Seeger, and many others.
The concert will feature a large dance floor, ensuring plenty of space for fans to let loose and enjoy the music. Whether you’re a longtime reggae fan or just looking for a night of incredible live music and good vibes, this is one show you won’t want to miss.
