Yolanda Bush
Vocalist, Drummer, Lyricist
Yolanda has been singing and drumming for decades, and is versatile in numerous styles including include Blues, Jazz, and Rock. Her voice is singular, transformative, and engaging as her performances hold and delight around the globe. In addition, she is a tight, deep pocket drummer with impeccable meter. She has toured the U.S., Italy, and Eastern Europe, performing with numerous ensembles. Her influences include Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Tony Williams, Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Billy Chobham, Chick Corea, Terri Lynn Carrington, Abbey Lincoln, Joni Mitchell, Stravinsky, Claude Debussy, and many more.
The Cool Water Collective is a flexible ensemble of musicians with flow, each expressive and highly accomplished in his own craft. The band features local Cooperstown musicians Timothy Iverson on Piano and Hammond B3 Organ and Evan Jagels on Bass. Completing the ensemble are Doug Gables (Guitar), Wyatt Ambrose (Guitar) and Joe Damone (Drums).
Timothy Iversen has enjoyed a successful and fulfilling career as a performer, composer, and educator. Tim has taught music to students from Pre-K through age 96. Tim performs regularly as a solo pianist, as a member of the Old Masters Jazz Ensemble, and as a sideman for many jazz, rock, and blues groups. He is the choir director and organist for the First Baptist Church in Cooperstown, the organist for the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and frequently serves as the music director for Orpheus Theatre and the SUNY Oneonta Theatre Department. When not chasing the muse, Tim enjoys chasing his bulldog, Coconut.
Evan Jagels is a versatile upright and electric bassist. He holds a Masters Degree in Music Performance from the City University of New York, Queens College, where he received the Michael Feinstein Award and has studied bass with Ron Carter, Buster Williams, Nilson Matta, Yoshio Aomori, Tomoya Aomori, and Franz Pillinger. Jagels has performed with such jazz luminaries as Ray Vega, Gerry Weldon, Antonio Hart, Michael Mossman, Ray Anderson, John Stowell, and Chuck Lamb. Other performance highlights include Carnegie Hall, Flushing Town Hall, the Plaza Hotel, the Record Archive, the Blue Note in Germany and the UniJazz Festival in the Czech Republic. He has recorded with Arlen Roth (Ry Cooder, Levon Helm, John Prine), Martin Bisi (Swans, Sonic Youth, Herbie Hancock), and for Antonio DeVivo’s Vientos de Medara.
He is a sought-after freelance jazz bassist in New York’s Capital District, a member of Shatter on Impact with Blake Fleming (The Mars Volta, Laddio Bollocko, Sean Lennon) and Amar Sastry (Anatomy of a Jam creator, AmarGuitar.com), Killdeer Trio, and Duo Extempore with NYC-based pianist Nicole Brancato. Jagels has performed throughout Germany with Paul Berberich (Zur Schönen Aussicht, CONtrust Jazz Orchestra) and recently released “Night Service”, a duo album of improvised music with Andreas “Scotty” Böttcher of Dresden, Germany.
Jagels is also Music Director for Origins Cafe in Cooperstown, NY and founder of the Origins Featured Artist Series. He has taught for the New York Summer Music Festival, the Oneonta Pop Music Experience, JazzConnect at Flushing Town Hall, SUNY Oneonta, and is currently Lecturer of Music at Hartwick College.
